Meadowlands Leachate Recovery

Photo: Needs caption.

Hackensack Meadowlands District landfills produce millions of gallons of leachate annually. The leachate water content is typically higher than 90%. If leachate can be treated to remove contaminants it is potentially a source of 'gray water', which can have beneficial reuses. Removing large volumes of water also reduces the cost of leachate disposal.
