Rutgers Climate Bridge Conference Overview

Abstract

Landscape Architects and by association landscape architecture, rise to the call of stewardship of the environment through art, science, inspiration, and models with the sincerest intent of making the unpredictable manageable. And that endeavor is a heavy burden.
When we spoke of place, we referred to the convergence of natural elements, wind, rain, and sunlight for example, with the human senses. Today we cannot disassociate the landscape from the human forces that act upon it and the sensory affects of place become a smaller component of a larger question of justice and equity. As a department we have chosen to embrace that complexity and alleviate the burden of design and planning by joining others. We envision “A more just future that honors the ground we walk on and the people we walk with.”
